“Slumber” Party Food

My daughter turns 10 next week, so we had her first-ever slumber party last night.

5 girls.

3 pizzas.

1 Big Top Cupcake.

48 mini strawberry cupcakes.

Cookies and Cream ice cream.

Popcorn.

M&Ms.

Sprite. Hawaiian Punch. Coke Zero. Sunkist. Apple juice.

Donuts.

Fruit smoothies.

The girls arrived at 7 p.m. The pizza was devoured by 8 p.m. The mini cupcakes and Big Top Cupcake were next. They popped popcorn around midnight and were asleep — I think — by 2 a.m. I woke up to them playing video games at 6:30 a.m.

Really girls?

We made fruit smoothies to offset the junk food from the night before. By 10 a.m., everyone had gone home. My daughter and I picked up the family room, started the dish washer and vacuumed the house. Then a I took a two-hour nap.

Her first-ever slumber party was a success!

STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE

  • 8 fresh strawberries, stems removed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 6 ice cubes

Blend strawberries, milk, yogurt, sugar and vanilla.

Add ice.

Blend until smooth and serve.
